Should I charge my EGO battery after every use? ›

Hello, We would recommend charging the battery after every use and for best practice remove the battery from the charger once charging is complete. We would not recommend leaving the battery on the charger for more than a few days. Thank you for your inquiry!

Always disconnect the battery from your EGO tool when it is not in use - leaving batteries in a tool can slowly drain the cells. Keep the battery stored in a room temperature environment - if battery cells get too hot or too cold, it will reduce performance.

A 5.0Ah battery will power a cordless blower for up to 44 minutes on high. A 7.5Ah battery will power a cordless blower for up to 66 minutes on high. Times are approximate and dependent on model and operational setting.

With the convenience of universal battery compatibility, you can use any size battery for any tool in the EGO POWER+ lineup.

 It is good practice to unplug the charger and remove the Lithium-Ion battery pack when not in use. For Lithium-Ion battery pack storage longer than 30 days: Store the Lithium-Ion battery pack where the temperature is below 80°F (26°C) and free of moisture.

What is the typical shelf life of a typical battery? Due to their high capacity, all EGO batteries can be stored unattended for a minimum of 10 years without damaging capacity and cycle performance. After 30 days batteries discharge to 30% capacity (to ensure longevity).

Store them in a moderately warm and dry place away from direct sunlight, radiators or any other heat sources. Extreme heat (and extreme cold) can damage batteries and reduce their capacity. It would be a good idea to store them in your house and not in a cold wet shed.

The issue boils down to proper storage of EGO batteries, when they are not in use, for prolonged periods of time — like over winter. The correct method is to unplug them from charging station and leave them alone — for no more than six months.

Or do both batteries need to match? They do not need to match. The ego battery management system will balance the useage.

For best practice, we recommend storing your EGO batteries in a climate controlled area that is dry, gets ventilation, and between 50°F-80°F (10°C-26°C) all year round. Additionally, we advise ensuring that your battery is off the charger and that your charger is unplugged to preserve your battery's life span.

All that to say, you can pretty much make a straight comparison that any brand's 18V (or 20V max) 5Ah battery will hold more than double the charge of any other 18V (or 20V max) 2Ah battery.
