  • Mildred Rekken, age 90, died on Monday, March10, 2008 at Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Mildred Jostad was born on May 19, 1917 to Thorvald and Klara (Brateng) Jostad near Walcott, ND. She attended school in the Kindred area. She married Johnny ?John? Rekken on September 17, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. They lived on the Rekken family farm near Horace, ND and farmed there until 1952. They then moved into the town of Horace. She worked at Trom?s Grocery Store from 1952-1955. She began working for the Horace School on December 8, 1958 and continued working for the West Fargo Schools in Horace as a custodian, cook, and paraprofessional until retiring in June of 1982. She was a grandmother to every student. John died on September 30, 1973. She was an active member of Horace Lutheran Church, serving in the Ladies Aid, the Mary/Rebecca Circle, as a Sunday School teacher and treasurer, and keeping up the flower beds as a member of the church?s Lady Bugs.   • Enkele weken geleden maakte ik voor het eerst kennis met het werk van Magister Nihilifer Vendetta 218, de man achter dit Funeral Fullmoon. Hoewel ik de band reeds uitvoerig heb ingeleid in mijn recensie van hun debuutalbum Revelation of Evil (2020), wil ik de belangrijkste gegevens hier graag nog eens kort herhalen. Funeral Fullmoon is een Chileense blackmetalband die mid-tempo, lo-fi black maakt met invloeden uit het doom- en ambient-kamp. En dat betekent dus: rauwe, occulte, op zich weinig verrassende black met een bewust lamlendige productie. Dat klinkt allemaal niet erg positief, maar eigenlijk slaagde de Magister er op Revelation of Evil wél in om een zeer aangenaam in het gehoor liggend album te maken. “Stroop voor de oren van een blackmetalliefhebber”, om mezelf even ongegeneerd te quoten. Geen echte hoogtepunten, maar een hypnotizerend totaalconcept vol duisternis en mystiek. Een naargeestig, nachtelijk ritueel als het ware.
